Ghanaian rapper has admitted that he doesn’t really love being an artist, stating that he got into the music industry only for survival than for the passion of it.

In an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, Amerado talked candidly about the challenges of being in the spotlight as a musician.

“The main reason I got into music was to survive—I just wanted to eat,” he admitted. “Most of the time, I don’t even enjoy being an artiste.”

He cited the numerous limitations associated with the industry as a major factor in his lack of enthusiasm for the profession.

One of the biggest challenges of being an artiste, he said, is the expectation of fans for artistes to spray cash whenever in public settings.

“I feel restricted,” he said. “Whenever you’re in public, especially in traffic, you’re expected to hand out money to fans.”

Despite the challenges, the ‘Kweku Ananse’ hitmaker noted that one of the few moments which excites him as a musician is performing on stage as it allows him to connect with fans and feel the impact of his work.

“The maintenance no be easy,” he added, stressing the demands and expectations that come with life as a musician.

Responding to the question of which other career path he might have chosen if it weren’t music, Amerado said he would pursued a career in football.
