A Ghanaian musician and fashionista Empress Gifty has stated that she has no bitter relationship with the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO).

GHAMRO is the royalty collection agency within Ghana which represents the rights of music copyright holders.

In 2017, Gifty Osei during an interview with host of K-Entertainment show, Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa FM claimed she never receives royalties from GHAMRO despite being a member and registering her songs with them.

However, it turned out her claim was false as chairman of GHAMRO, Rex Owusu Marfo threatened to publicize the royalties the singer had been paid since 2015.

Her management later apologised to GHAMRO for Gifty Osei’s actions.

In an exclusive interview on Onua FM’s mid-morning show with Felicia Osei on Friday, September 17, 2024, Empress Gifty stated that she has never followed up on her royalties with GHAMRO.

“I have no issues with GHAMRO. The gave the royalty to my manager and I have never followed up on it before. All I know is that if you work very hard and you know your worth there are some things you won’t involve yourself in them,” she noted.

Again, she emphasized on the fact that she deserves the royalty from GHAMRO because she worked hard for it

“I deserve everything GHAMRO has to give me because I worked hard for it, I invested in it and pushed it to this state,” she said.
