In the realm of music, where talent, dedication, and perseverance intertwine, the journey to stardom is as unique as each artist’s melody.

Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay, a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, has thus spoken out against fans and industry stakeholders who compare her career trajectory to that of other artistes, especially Gyakie.

During her appearance on the Day show on TV3 with the affable Berla Mundi, Wendy Shay eloquently declared, “It’s actually not fair to even compare two talented people because we are all shining and that is what I love about what is going on right now in the industry.”

Wendy Shay was quick to dismantle the practice in the entertainment industry, asserting that the current music industry landscape is marked by a refreshing wave of inclusivity, where multiple stars can shine simultaneously.

“Gone are the days,” she notes, “where it was just one female artiste shining or two male shining. The sky is so big to contain all the stars, we are all shining and making our money so it’s not fair.”

Speaking on her consistency in the game, she also revealed that she’s been doing well for herself since her debut single 5 years ago and has not looked back since.

“I mean I have been doing and giving hit back to back for five years. There shouldn’t be any comparison,” she affirmed.

Contrary to the perception of a certain school of thought that she is still a local artiste, the ‘Survivor’ singer revealed that the hit single has opened new doors internationally for her brand.

“Survivor really opened doors for me and I am an international artiste as well and I am working towards it to become a global artiste,” she answered.

As she aspires to become a global artiste, she re-echoed the sentiment that success is not solely determined by speed but by unwavering dedication and the constant pursuit of self-improvement.

“Like they say The race is not for the swift; once you’re working hard and working on yourself, you are going to get wherever you put your mind to,” she mused.
