Kofi Aduonum, a sports writer and husband of Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, is not surprised that his wife is on track to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon.

He has been supporting her at the Akwaaba Village for the past five days and is extremely proud of her progress.

The current record holder is Indian singer Sunil Waghmare, who sang for 105 hours in 2012, but Afua has already surpassed that mark and aims to reach 115 hours to set a new record.

Kofi expressed his confidence in his wife’s abilities, stating that he never doubted her capacity to achieve this feat. “I know she is a tough personality, a tough character, so I didn’t doubt a bit,” he told TV3.

The support for Afua has been overwhelming, with prominent figures such as Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia and former President John Mahama sending messages of encouragement. Several musicians, including Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, and Kuami Eugene, have also visited the Akwaaba Village to show their support.

Kofi extended his gratitude to all those who have supported Afua throughout her journey. “The support started from the very beginning, and it has been massive. I want to say a big thank you to Ghanaians,” he said.

As Afua continues to sing her way into the history books, Kofi offered words of encouragement, citing a biblical phrase: “The horse is prepared for battle, but victory lies in the hands of the Lord.”
