She says even though she shows a little flesh, she still keeps it casual. As usual, some self-righteous criticisers of female musicians in the Ghanaian entertainment industry have come hard at the singer for her way of showing too much skin in her videos and on stage. The ‘Jeje’ queen, speaking on TV3’s Newday show on Tuesday, said she shows flesh just to perform on big stages because she is a female performer, adding that no one would even listen to her if she wears ‘kaba’ on the stage. “I don’t really dress like that when I am not on stage. I normally dress nice, you know, sometimes a little flesh but still nice.  It is my craft and I am a musician.” Talking of getting critics from her superiors as a nurse about her flamboyant dressing, she said she gets it all the time. According to her, there is something that many people do not really understand about female artistes which is, there are some female artistes who like to perform wildly (in terms of dressing). She demanded from Ghanaians to stop criticizing female artistes because of how they dress to perform on stage because it is their uniform for their profession “as a nurse would wear her nursing uniform to the hospital or a presenter also wears a suit”. The singer, who is mostly singing about women and supporting women, said that as a woman, she knows women go through a lot that men would not understand and have no idea of, so that is her own way of saying she acknowledges them and their hustle and that is why she always stands for them. She, however, does not belong to any of the female movements yet. Private life When asked about her private life, the singer said she is not in any relationship. “I am waiting for someone to promise me. But I am not really looking for them kind of stuff now.” Sista Afia disclosed that she is a student and worker as well. She refused to disclose the amount of money spent on the video of her new song, but simply said it cost a whole lot. She was at the studio to promote her new song dubbed ‘Champion Atta’.
