The 2nd Runner-up of TV3’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful season 10, Akosua Kyerewaa, has presented learning materials to some deprived basic schools at Adeiso in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern Region. The items are 1,000 exercise books, boxes of pencils and sharpeners. Among the beneficiary schools include the Anglican Junior High School (JSH)/Primary, Presbyterian JHS/Primary and the Methodist JHS/Primary. Akosua Kyerewaa, popularly known as “Akos” used the occasion to launch her non-governmental organisation called “Support Learning Project,” to contribute to education of school children. She said she would continue to donate to schools in the Eastern Region to enhance teaching and learning for the children to benefit from the ongoing free education. Miss Akosua Kyerewaa said her organisation would soon offer scholarships to brilliant but needy children and urged parents and guardians to enrol their children into school, especially the girl-child. Mr Moses Tetteh Pornotey, the District Director of Education for Upper West Akim who received the items on behalf of the schools, assured the donor that the materials would be equally shared among the beneficiary schools to promote education. Mr Eugene Sackey, the Upper West Akim District Chief Executive and Mr Derek Ohene Assifo, the Member of Parliament for the area jointly launched the Support Learning Project of Akosua Kyerewaa. They commended her for her initiative and appealed to other organisations to assist in the implementation of the project for the realization of her vision. Source GNA
