Blaq Angela, one of the finalists of the TV reality show, Ghana’s Most Photogenic is a 22-year-old Level 300 student of the University of Ghana.
Currently reading Psychology, Maame Ama Angela Obenewaa (her actual name) hails from Kade in the Eastern Region and is the sole daughter of her parents.
Blaq Angela also aspires to be a medical psychologist and a model as well. Having won the Face of Ghana High School Fashion week back in 2020, Blaq Angela’s dream of becoming a model surfaced and since then has been engaging in activities related to modelling.
Since partaking in the competition, Blaq Angela says her most daunting task was ‘Hawk the Walk’ where contestants were required to carry a fruit basket and walked few metres in the middle of Osu oxford Streets while posing for shoots.
She enjoys painting and drawing, swimming, sewing and playing basketball.

When questioned about what inspires her, Blaq Angela replied, “I am my own inspiration because each and every day, I want to be better”.
Her favourite quote which she came across from a book, Ancestral Sacrifice, reads “If you sit at one place, you sit on your thing”.
Surprisingly, Maame Ama Angela Obenewaa’s favourite colour is not black despite her stage name ‘Blaq Angela’. The finalist explained that the name originated back from secondary school when her mates called her ‘Blaq Angela’ because of her dark complexion.
Blaq Angela said her participation in the competition has taught her to be confident and adore her role model, Taraji P. Henson, an American actress.
“Confidence is key, anything can happen if you are confident,” Blaq Angela noted.
Ghana’s Most Photogenic finale slated for January 20 at World Trade Centre
Ghana’s Most Photogenic is a reality TV show and interactive competition in which aspiring models from the ages of 18 -28 compete against each other in a series of photo shoot tasks.
After weeks of photo shoots such as the Bridal, Bikini, Christmas, Facial expression tasks amongst others, the finale of the maiden edition will come off on January 20 at the World Trade Centre.
Top Fashion Designers Such as Afriken by Nana, Eugened’wise, Sam’s Collection, Bebelino Garments, and Ragueldeh will be displaying their collections on the night.
The winner gets a GH₵10,000, a trip abroad, make-up products from Black Secret Makeup and a spa treat from Jane’m Salon and Spa.
