Twitter influencer KalyJay, the initiator of #FixTheCountry, says that Ghana still has a lot of work to do to get the systems working. He shared his experiences in other countries in an interview with delay.

He mentioned that countries like Rwanda, France and Italy have working systems in place, which he observed on his travels. “I think we have a long way to go. It was very evident when I travelled to other countries. I’ve been to Rwanda, France, Italy and Switzerland. And I looked at the systems in place, and I realised we really have a long way to go.”

Kalyjay also addressed his absence from the #FixTheCountry demonstration. He disclosed that the movement became political, making himself and his family uncomfortable.

He also added that his family and friends feared for his life, so he had to excuse himself briefly to restrategize.

“When I started the campaign, it was non-partisan. It was to call for change in the lives of Ghanaians. Along the line, it became political… there was NPP, NDC… and I realised that the whole campaign was losing its motive. So I had to withdraw because I’m not a political person.”

Additionally, Kalyjay said that his brand was solid before the exposure from the #FixTheCountry campaign. He mentioned his social and philanthropic work started before he created the fix-the-country hashtag.
