The late dancehall songstress Ebony Reigns who passed on on February 9, 2018 in car accident has been laid to rest Saturday March 24 at the Osu Cemetery in Accra.
Preceding the burial was the funeral rites held at the forecourt of the State House where thousands of Ghanaians came to pay their late respect to the 90’s bad girl, as she was affectionately called.
Eulogizing the late singer, her management Rufftown records, led by Ricky Nana Agyeman (Bullet) described her as a “kind, friendly, respectful and an unsung philanthropist”.
According to Ricky, Ebony was a generous person who readily helped others who were in financial constraints.
“There were a number of persons that she helped financially. Whenever possible she visited and assisted financially, a number of orphanages, children’s’ homes as well as other needy persons”, he said.
He also dispelled some wildly held perceptions that Ebony was wayward, untrained and unreligious bad girl”. Bullet said such perceptions are unfounded and that Ebony was the exact opposite of what people thought she was.
“Ebony was a Christian and indeed worshipped, anytime she had the opportunity, at the Golden Censor Church, Madina, headed by Apostle Steve K. Badu”
He added that “She was prayerful, and had prayer sessions with a number of prophets, pastors and other Christian leaders”
The late songstress, born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, died in a car accident on February 8, 2018, together with her childhood friend Franky Kuri and Francis Atsu Vondee of the Ghana Air Force, believed to be her bodyguard. Fanky was buried on March 3 while Atsu’s burial is scheduled for today March 23.
