Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah, known in show business as Shatta Wale, has been fined GH¢ 2,000 for the publication of false news.

Appearing in court Wednesday, the dancehall artiste who had earlier pleaded not guilty, changed his plea to guilty at the Circuit Court 4 presided by Emmanuel Essandoh.

Lead prosecutor ASP Maxwell Oppong did not oppose the change in the plea of the musician.

A default of the fine will result in a 3months imprisonment.

Shatta Wale was hailed before the Court for publishing on social media, prophecies of death which he claimed were about him.

Counsel for the dancehall artists, Jerry Avenogbor, pleaded with the Court that his client was a first-time offender who had expressed remorse for his actions.

Shatta Wale was arrested in October last year for publicising false claims that he had been shot in an attack on him in Accra.
