Ghanaian artist Enil Art has opened up about the difficulties he faces during his random sketches in public transport vehicles – ‘Trotro’.

Enil Art has gained popularity for randomly sketching bus conductors (trotro mates) while in the commercial vehicles with videos of him in the process having circulated on social media.

Speaking to Berla Mundi on The Day Show, Enil Art said he maintains his focus and endurance while making the sketches in the face of the bumpy roads and the hustle and bustle of boarding commercial vehicles.

“You should see me struggling. It’s a very strenuous thing. It takes a lot of mental energy and focus to get the drawing right because the roads are bumpy and all that and you just have to concentrate,” he said on Sunday, September 29.

Enil Art who has nurtured his drawing talent from infancy believes this famous phenomenon of drawing in ‘trotro’ is to help him better his skills.

“I take it as a challenge to get better at whatever I drew that’s why I hop in the bus to draw in the first place…I’ve been drawing since I was a kid,” he added.

The popular artist said his drawings of the ‘trotro mates’ are free and brings a “beaming smile” on their faces.

Occasionally, he is spared from paying transport fares as a gesture in return for his works.

Enil Art through his talent has been recognised by many serving as an inspiration to the younger ones who wish to be artists.
