Several players leave Ghana camp ahead of Kirin Cup in Japan

Several players have left the Black Stars camp ahead of the Kirin Soccer Cup, which begins on Friday in Japan.

Black Stars coach Otto Addo named a 33-man squad for both the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the four-nation tournament, but only 18 players are currently in Japan for the Kirin Cup.

According to reports, five players did not travel with the team due to Covid-19, while the others were excused due to injuries and impending transfers.

Current players in Japan include captain Andre Ayew, his brother Jordan, Mohammed Kudus, Mubarak Wakaso, and Daniel Amartey.

Jojo Wollacott, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Jonathan Mensah, and Daniel-Kofi Kyereh are among those who have left the camp.

Ghana will face Japan on Friday, June 10, with the winner going on to face either Chile or Tunisia in the final.

The final is set for June 14, the same day that the semi-finalists compete for third place.
