This is in partnership with the SDGs Information and Advisory Center.
Ambassador of the SDGs and host of 3FM Drive Giovani is to give away clues every day on the show leading loyal listeners to the ultimate prize in the SDG Raffle.
This announcement came at the official launch of the SDG Car Raffle in Accra, a deliberate endeavor to promote the understanding of stakeholders’ responsibility in achieving the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals.
A General Manager, in charge of Operations and Shared Service, at Media General, Winfred Afful, expressed his excitement at the opportunity to be the implementing partner for this promotion.
“Media General is very happy and proud to be part of this project to educate people about the SDGs and in the process give them some amazing prizes,” he stated.
“Through our 3FM brands, we have advocated for the goals through our community engagement programmes: Community Connect, hosted by Johnnie Hughes every Friday at 9:00am. We have also had some show on TV3 mainly as part of our news programmes.”
He is optimistic that “through this project, it is our hope that players of the game would learn about the SDG’s to improve upon their own lives and that of the people around them.”
Leticia Brown from the SDGs Advisory Office stated the Sustainable Development Goals should be “everybody’s business” as she called for national participation.
Special Advisor to the President on the SDGs Dr. Eugene Owusu explained that “this national car raffle was the first of its kind globally. The raffle is meant to inform, educate and engage the entire citizenry on the SDG.”
He noted that the re-appointment of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as Co-Chair of the Eminent Group of Sustainable Development Goals Advocates, should give the country a renewed commitment to pursue this agenda.
He used the opportunity to encourage the youth to take active part in the game, calling on all to “support implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals”.
“This is a common goal,” he emphasized.
