Scanty ballots force postponement of NDC primaries

Insufficient ballots at some voting centers have led to the postponement of primaries in at least four constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

Ahafo Ano North, New Edubiase, Ejura, Agogo and Sekyere Afram Plains constituencies have had their primaries re-scheduled to Sunday, November 22 due to the number of ballots brought in.

Director of Elections of NDC Samuel Ofosu Ampofo told TV3 that the size of ballots was a genuine mechanical fault.

He assured that more have been printed and are being airlifted to the affected constituencies.

TV3’s Ibrahim Abubakar reported earlier on Saturday that efforts were being made by electoral officers in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency to print more ballots but they proved futile.

Benjamin Aidoo, one of our correspondents in the Ashanti Region, said the shortage in Ejura tops 6,000.
