Rattray Park mgt reacts to 9-yr-old boy’s drowning on Easter Sunday

Management of Rattray Park has finally broken its silence on the drowning of nine-year-old Opoku Mensah in its swimming pool during the Easter holidays.

Opoku Mensah had gone to the park with his family when the sad incident occurred.

A statement from management states the deceased “who had not been tagged by management of the facility suddenly jumped into the pool and got himself severely injured in the process.”

The statement further says the deceased was given a CPR as first aid before passing away at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital “some hours later”.

“Whilst we await the police report, management wish to put on record that this is the first time an unfortunate incident has happened at our swimming pool,” it said, insinuating that safety is its hallmark.

Already, the management has paid a visit to the bereaved family “to commiserate with them over their heavy and painful loss”.
