The Speaker is the 3rd in command after the president and vice president[/caption] President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sent a congratulatory message to new Speaker of Parliament Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye. Prof Oquaye was elected as Speaker on Saturday during the inaugural sitting of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic. He was nominated by the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu, and, subsequently, seconded by Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu. Right after the former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament was sworn in, Nana Akufo-Addo took to Twitter to congratulate the man he calls “my good friend”.
Prof Oquaye, who served in Parliament for eight years, has given clear indications of supervising reforms in some of the legislations of Ghana.
