Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDS) has suspended its Load Management Programme following a directive from the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDco).
This was announced in a release issued by the power distribution company on Friday, April 5, 2019.
According to the release, GRIDco has indicated that there is sufficient generation to satisfy consumers.
“The Load Management Programme has therefore been suspended accordingly until further notice,” the statement read.
The power distribution company has been serving notices to the general public in the past weeks informing consumers of their lights going off.
Most parts of Accra have been experiencing lights out mostly at night, which led to many consumers lamenting on various social platforms demanding PDS comes clear on the electricity situation.
Between 2014 and 2016, Ghana experienced intense load-shedding popularly called ‘Dumsor’.
As a result, many Ghanaians were calling of PDS to come clear on whether the nation is experiencing another episode of ‘dumsor’.
However, the power distribution company said the country had not return to ‘dumsor’ and that the constant lights out was due to technical issues upstream.
