Patrick Allotey pleads not guilty in court

Despite showing remorse for his action and consequently apologizing, boxer Patrick Allotey has pleaded not guilty to charges of causing harm levelled against him. He appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on Monday, February 10. The WBO African Super welterweight champion, was captured on video pummeling an Asante Kotoko fan in a Matchday 6 Ghana Premier League game at the Accra Sports Stadium. Allotey appeared to have been provoked by the fan, whose football club eventually beat Hearts of Oak 2-1. The matter was later reported to the Ministries Police Station by the fan, Michael Siaw, and the boxer was picked up. After pleading not guilty in court, Allotey was granted a bail of GH¢100,000 with three sureties. He is to report to the court every Wednesday. His travelling documents including passport is to be submitted to the court. Hearing was adjourned to Tuesday, February 25.
