Parliament resumes to consider Presidential Transition Bill et al

The Fourth Meeting of the 3rd Session of the current Parliament is expected to open on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

The Meeting will see President John Dramani Mahama visiting the chamber to deliver the 2016 State of the Nation address.

A line-up of the Meeting has 26 bills going to be tabled for presentation by the Sixth Parliament. Among these are the Ghana School of Law Bill, Legal Service Bill, Electronic Communication Bill and the Presidential Transition (Amendment) Bill.

Fifteen bills will continue to be worked on. Among these are Companies Bill, Whsitleblower Bill, Narcotics Control Bill and the Public Procurement Bill.

Parliament will also discuss a number of bills which are at the consideration stage. These are Conduct of Public Officers Bill, Intestate Succession Bill, Right to Information Bill, Immigration Service Bill, Plant Breeders Bill and the Chieftaincy Bill, among others.

“There are 23 other instruments to be presented at the meeting, three instruments at the Committee Level and 41 Papers to be presented,” a release by Kate Addo, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs, on Monday, January 25 said.

“Eight Motions have been tabled for debate and 95 other referrals of Bills at the Committee.”
