PAC surcharges Yilo Krobo Assembly

PAC Chair James Klutse Avedzi (Right)

The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, and MP for Ketu North Constituency, James Klutse Avedzi, has warned that the Committee would no longer accept Institutions that incurs infractions in the Audit report.

The Chairman said “I think we have to go beyond the issue about reporting missing JCR’s and market tickets to the police, it has shown during our rounds that issues of this nature, reporting to the police, never see the end of it”. He added it could be a ploy or a strategy where revenue collectors report about missing JCR’s

Mr. Advedzi made the statement when Assemblies, Municipal, Metropolitan and some Senior High Schools ( SHS) from the Eastern Region appeared before PAC being cited in the Auditor-general’s report for the year ended, 2023 at its Zonal public hearing at Ho., the Volta Regional Capital.

It has revealed that two valued books, two collectors which the amount involved is not known could not be found compelling management of the Assembly to report the issue to the police for investigation. The two collectors no longer work with the assembly making it difficult for them to be traced.

The Committee has therefore surcharged the Revenue Superintendent, the Coordinating Director and the Retired Finance Officer to refund the monies involved within two months
