Oh Africa!!!

Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah

Oh Africa!

Most people are not happy.

They are just keeping up appearances.

Some are expressive of their woes.

Others are so tired

They don’t complain anymore.

And the rest turn to leaving to the West.

Africa has been exploited for WAY TOO LONG!

From The Transatlantic Slave Trade to Imperialism or Colonialism,

whatever you wanna call it.

It was not pretty.

The last stage is Neocolonialism;

Their latest evil machine.

This is probably the worst open secret ever!

Our leaders certainly know the problem but, fixing it is a problem

Or they deliberately don’t want to fix it for they are in bed with those who are purposely keeping us backward.

We can’t blame anybody for our woes.

Not even our ancestors.

For when they came to our shores,

They were smarter and stronger

And so they subdued us.

It started off on a friendly note with religion and then gradually force was applied.

That has been the norm since time immemorial.

Big fish eat smaller fish

Every Superpower you ever heard of;

Be it The Roman Empire, Persian Empire

The Egyptians or whatever great nation you’ve ever heard of, took advantage of a weaker nation.

That’s just the way it is;

“Survival of the fittest”

The issue here is that even centuries after the cloak was removed from our eyes

and the yoke off our heads,

our own selfish desires are still keeping us at bay.

They keep keeping our leaders on the hook with the bait of our OWN riches they took.

With our resources they have firmly established themselves with intelligence agencies, well equipped Military forces and psychological warfare; (Religion, Propaganda etc)

It is really sad that most of our people are not up to the task of taking them on.

The select few who are brave enough to do so too are targeted with the help of their own dissident countrymen.

When will this cycle end?

The spirits of Nkrumah,

Gaddafi

Lumumba

Mugabe

(Add other African leaders who stood against the West)

Are crying out from the grave!

They shall not rest until this Pan-African dream is realized!

When will one African Leader who is incorruptible arise and infect all the others so we can finally rise up?

There is one man who has piqued my interest and I strongly believe is ready for the job!

His name is Nana Kwame Bediako;

The Leader of “The New Force” in Ghana.

His name “Bediako” speaks volumes!

It is a Twi name that can be translated as; “he is here for the fight” or

“he came to fight”

I see in him the spirits of all the Freedom Fighters Africa has ever had.

Coincidentally, one of his monikers is;

“Freedom” Jacob Cesar.

I share so strongly in his vision.

And I believe he is going to be different.

So much so that,

this year I will actually vote.

I haven’t voted since 2014 simply because;

Our governments don’t impress me.

They all come to do the same things regardless of the Political Party

that gets the nod to rule.

They keep taking huge loans

Keeping us indebted without a solid plan to get us out of the debt.

What even irks me is the fact that

they don’t do the needful with such loans;

Lavishing it on themselves

And their kinfolk while the citizens live in abject poverty.

They aren’t industrialising sufficiently.

We keep shipping out our raw materials

Succumbing to Capitalism.

Our produce is bought for cheap.

Refined and sold to us dearly

When we should be the ones with the say.

We need somebody who knows the way.

For so long we’ve been led astray.

On the 24th of May 1963

in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia,

Kwame Nkrumah said; we need “a commitment to work out a continent-wide plan for a United or common economic and industrial programme for Africa.

This plan should include;

The setting up of a common market for Africa, an African currency, an African monetary zone, an African central bank, a continental communication system”

It was his 2nd point in his speech and

It is my 2nd point here to buttress the fact that; we need industrialization

on a massive scale to see a sea-change

and I see Nana Kwame Bediako treading that path.

Did you see what I did there?

We know he wants to bring the Sea to ….

Lest I digress (lol)

Walter Rodney said;

“African Development is possible

Only on the basis of a radical break

With the international capitalist system;

The principal agency of underdevelopment

Of Africa”

It is very possible!

Africa will surely rise!

In 1966 When Kwame Nkrumah was ousted,

He asked Rev. Chris Hesse whether he understood the meaning of a “Coup”

and he retorted; “it’s when the military takes over from a civilian government”

Nkrumah then cracked a joke and said that was the dictionary meaning.

He went ahead to prophesy saying that

It was the beginning of a history in Africa.

And that there would be several coups in Africa and Africa would sink.

He went on to say that a new Africa would rise out of the mess.
