The startling revelation has been confirmed by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Onua FM’s Yensempa hosted by Kwame Karikari on Monday.

The Public Affairs Director of the GNFS, Timothy Osafo Affum admitted, “I can confirm that only one fire hydrant is working in Tamale and so the people of Tamale are in danger. The Regional Security Council has taken the matter up and still working on the issue”.

He said “Parliament is aware of the situation and they have accepted that we have a critical situation at hand and they are working on the issue”.

Mr. Osafo Affum further disclosed that “malfunctioning fire hydrants is a nationwide problem, especially when it comes to serviceability of fire hydrants”, adding, “if the hydrants are not working we report to the Ghana Water Company Limited for actions to be taken but nothing has been done on the Tamale situation”.
