The Director of Elections of the New Patriotic Party, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah says it is only ‘indisciplined’ members of the party who have resorted to discussing internal matters in the media.
He said it is out of “sheer indiscipline” that some members of the party would want to discuss internal matters in the media considering that the NPP has proper laid down procedure for such issues.
Speaking on an Accra-based radio station, 92.7 FM Tuesday, he said Article four of the party’s constitution deals with the grievances and disciplinary procedures hence members have no excuse to resort to the media.
“If party members do not stick to this or are not ready to resort to this, then there is a problem, especially when the party has created ample space for party grievances to be heard,” he said.
Mr. Korsah described as appropriate, the call by the flag bearerof the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to members to desist from discussing the internal wrangling of the party in the media.
He noted that there is a disciplinary committee currently working, noting the treasurer of the party has appeared before it. He said General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong is yet to appear before the said committee.
“Why then does anybody go out there and talk the manner that happened? Some of them are just sheer indiscipline that anybody would want to sidestep the internal structures,” he said.
Touching on measures being taken to forestall discipline in the party, he said they would begin to sanction recalcitrant members who would want to sidestep laid down procedures.
“I think that beginning from now, I see the party cracking the whip on recalcitrant members who do not want to play by the rules,” he said.
