One person dead, several injured in Kumasi gas explosion

One person has so far been reported dead in a massive gas explosion at Kumasi in the Ashanti region, 3news.com has gathered. At least four cars have gone up in flames with some people sustaining several degrees of injury in Tuesday morning incident. 3News’ Benjamin Aidoo reports that the injured have been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical attention. One person is in critical condition. Information about the cause of the fire at the Krofrom Trinity Gas filling station is sketchy. Firefighters have been able to bring the fire under control. However some adjoining shops were affected by the inferno. Angry residents told 3News this is the second time the explosion has occurred at the station. They have therefore resolved to resist any attempt to reopen it. The residents are surprised authorities allowed the station to operate in a residential area, explaining that the station is also close to a school, church and fitting shop, which were all there before the gas station was built.   Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>
