A Konongo District Court in the Ashanti Region has charged the prime suspect in the stabbing to death of a Form 1 student of the Konongo Odumase Senior High School (KOSS) with murder.

Four other suspects have been charged with abetment to murder.

The five have, however, all been remanded into custody until Monday, November 15 when they reappear before the court.

This was the outcome of proceedings as reported by 3news.com‘s Ibrahim Abubakar on Monday, November 8.

Presided over by Her Worship Joyce Bamfo, the Court ordered that all the suspects – aged 16 and 17 – be sent to the Juvenile Detention Centre in Juaso.

She had granted a request by the prosecutor for more time to investigate the matter.

Background

Form 1 student Sam’uun Larhan was stabbed to death on Friday, November 5 following a scuffle with a fellow student.

According to the Konongo District Police Commander, DSP Osei Adu Agyemang, the five suspects are all in Form 2.

He said they ganged up and decided to go to House Three and then bully the first-year students.

“They first attacked and assaulted some of them. They further moved to the mini-market on campus and grabbed another first-year student and attempted to drag him away to molest him but he was rescued.”

The deceased student has since been buried according to Islamic customs.

“We have buried him,” uncle, Alhaji Mallam Baba Abubakar, said in an interview on 3FM on Monday.

“We buried him on that same day. I bathed him before he was buried. He was stabbed in the left rib. I bathed for him and so I saw the position and the stab went deep into his rib,” he added, demanding justice.
