The Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, John Setor Dumelo, has written to the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC), demanding a recount of all ballots.
“This is due to several irregularities that has been identified in some of the polling centers,” he wrote barely hours after losing the official polls to incumbent Lydia Seyram Alhassan.
He cited as one of the irregularities the swapping of “my figures and that of the NPP candidate’s figures at polling centers”.
The letter was directed to the District Electoral Officer.
As per the results declared in the early hours of Tuesday, Mr Dumelo polled 37,778 votes while New Patriotic Party’s Lydia Alhassan polled 39,851 votes to be retained.
