NPP U/E chairman to be buried Friday

Upper East Region Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Adams Mahama will be laid to rest on Friday, May 22, TV3 can confirm.

Mr Mahama could not survive an acid attack on him on Wednesday night.

He was kept under intensive care at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead on Thursday.

Addressing party supporters in the Region, regional secretary Cletus Ayambire said arrangements have been made to bury Mr Mahama on Friday.

A high-powered delegation led by the party’s vice presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is expected in Bolgatanga for the burial ceremony, he added.

The incident has heightened tension in the region, our correspondent reports, with the military deployed to provide security.
