NPP stage caves in; Nana Addo safe

A stage mounted at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi during a rally organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday caved in, reports say.The reports revealed that the accident happened while the party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was on stage addressing supporters.

Nana Addo landed on his bottom and lost his spectacles when the stage caved in, TV 3 News’ Thomas Addotei Pappoe said.

Thomas Addotei Pappoe told Bright Nana Amfoh on News 360 Sunday, December 2, 2012 that Nana Addo is “safe and strong” to the extent that he addressed media personnel shortly after the accident.

He reports that an emergency medical team on stand-by quickly attended to the NPP presidential candidate and other dignitaries, who were then with him on stage.

Mr Pappoe also reports that three men have been arrested in connection with the accident.

Some of the supporters claim they saw them loosening some of the fatenings of the rostrum, Thomas said.
