NPP membership drive is either low or completely non-existent; I’ll resolve it if voted for – Musah Superior

A General Secretary hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Musah Superior has asked the delegates of the party to vote for him to become the next General Secretary to enable him correct the defects in the party.

He indicated that the NPP is currently faced with a number of challenges including inefficient membership drive.

If voted for, he said, he would utilize available modern technology to correct these issues.

Speaking in interview with TV3’s Tanko Mohammed Rabiu in Bolgatanga on the sidelines of the NPP’s regional election, the former Mayor of Tamale said “The best General Secretary should be a local and modern person. If you are too modern you will fail, if you are too local you will fail so you should be very local and be extremely modern.

“I understand technology and I know technology and innovation and so what I did in 2011 when I used the Skype campaign, it is exactly what we are going to do to introduce the membership. Our membership drive is either low or completely nonexistent. We are in a digitalization era, the government of Ghana is doing extremely brilliant in terms of digitalization.

“That is why the party that has given birth to the government should do well. Unfortunately, as we speak, we don’t have a proper data to suggest the membership of the NPP.

“At the constituency level nobody can confirm that we know the number of NPP members in the constituency. Because we are unable to know the number of NPP members in the constituencies across the country we will definitely not have the number of NPP. As General Secretary, one of the key things I will do is to ensure that our membership drive is effective, is efficient and conclusive.”
