NPP has no case; 2012 Election was free and fair – Akua Donkor

The Founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor has described as unfounded claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the December 7 polls were rigged to favour the incumbent government.

She said the 2012 General Election is the most credible and transparent in the history of Ghana, therefore the NPP’s claim is a figment of their imagination.

Akua Donkor was reacting to the NPP’s resolve to seek court redress over alleged discrepancies in the presidential results of last Friday’s polls.

The opposition party has blamed the Electoral Commission for the irregularities which characterized the December polls and is confident the Supreme Court will overturn the verdict of the election based on its incontrovertible evidences.

Madam Akua Donkor made these claims on Asempa FM’s ”Ekosii Sen” programme , Thursday 20th December 2012, when she was called upon to explained further claims she had made earlier in the morning, when she addressed a packed press conference at the Kama Conference Centre.

Akua Donkor challenged the NPP leadership to invoke the famous deity Antoa Nyamaa on the perpetrators who is alleged to have rigged the election.

She intimated that the NPP court case against the EC is dead on arrival since according her nothing untowards was witnessed during the entire voting process.

Madam Donkor indicated that since NPP party agents at the polling stations signed the red sheets to accept the electoral results, the party has no case.

The one-time independent candidate for Kwabre West Constituency added that given her experience in politics, she believes the NPP is just being destructive.

She urged President John Mahama to focus on his core objective and leave the opposition party to wobble in its shameful defeat.

She also alleged at the press conference that Dr. Nduom and Nana Akufo-Addo had connived to declare the 2012 election as rigged.

Akua Donkor has pledged to be a principal witness in the court case against the EC to expose the hypocrisy of the NPP.

Meanwhile, GFP leader has called for state protection from the President of the Republic, following what she says have been several threats on her life.

According to her, following her refusal to team up with Dr. Ndoum to support the NPP to sing that the elections were rigged in favour of John Mahama, the threats on her life intensified with a demand to return the Toyota Tundra vehicle handed her by the flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, in exchange for her open support for him and rallying of her supporters for campaign and election purposes.

Further, she also intimated that the leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and a former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings also made the call on her to join them to sing the same song of rigging of 2012 election in favour of H.E. John Mahama. She again refused to do so in the interest of candor, peace and stability of the country which must not be compromised for the diabolical agenda of getting political power at all cost.

Madam Akua Donkor has vowed not to return the car but rather use it for her farming activities.
