
A Political Scientist, Dr Kwame Asah-Asante. has said the way and manner the New Patriotic Party (NPP) conducted its just- ended regional executive elections show that they may have done their home work well to minimise the excesses that come along with such elections.
In his view, everything went on smoothly despite some of the challenges that were encountered.
Speaking on the New Day show on TV3 with Berla Mundi Tuesday May 31, he said “…everything went on smoothly, people voted for the candidate for them to be in office.
“It gives an indication that the problems that the party saw, they have sent a word round, people needed to understand that it is a contest.
“I see a renewed efforts on the party of the party to make sure the elections move on smoothly so their smoothly, to make sure things went as planned. All in all, you realize that some homework has been done.”
He added “Some of the problems that came, the party should nip in the bud.”
During the polls over the weekend, incumbent Ashanti Region Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, was re-elected by delegates.
In the Bono Region, the Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, was also retained.
He polled 464 votes against his closest contender’s 306.
