According to him, members need some time to brood over happenings in order to have fresh perspectives before taking any decisions for the party’s future.
The opposition party has been recently rocked with internal wrangling with suspicions rife at the top hierarchy.
Many suspect the National Chairman and the General Secretary are working against the goal of the flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
That suspicion led to the disruption of a meeting in Bolgatanga by some young men believed to have been mobilised by the Upper East Region Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adams Mahama. The meeting was between some party executives and National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong.
Exactly a week after the incident, two men – one of whom is the brother of Mr Afoko – attacked Alhaji Mahama by pouring acid on him, leading to his demise.
The death of the regional chairman led to a spontaneous call at regional levels for the ousting of Mr Afoko and Mr Agyepong, whose activities were perceived to be inimical to the NPP.
But speaking on the issues on TV3 over the week, Mr Addai-Nimoh – who together with Nana Addo and Alan Kyerematen contested the flagbearership position of the party in 2014 – likened the crisis within the party to an aircraft “going through turbulence and then finally getting stability and enjoying lamina flow”.
“When a thing of this nature happens, it’s better we all have patience and not to engage in all kinds of talking about one another,” he advised.
“You allow some days and as the days go by we begin to have new perspective of issues. Then we will be more accommodating and comforting by the leadership.”
The party is expected to meet at the highest level after the Adua prayers for Alhaji Adams to iron out the differences.
