12-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has been knocked out of the 2018 Australian Open with a defeat to South Korea’s Hyeon Chung, as the Serb struggled with injury.
Djokovic endured a torrid three-set 7-6 (7-4) 7-5 7-6 (7-3) victory against the energetic Chung, who has now become the first Korean to reach the quarter final of a Grand Slam.
He will face another surprise quarter-finalist after American Tennys Sandgren upset fifth seed Dominic Thiem.
Djokovic was obviously in pain after he was treated on his right elbow in the first set of the match.
Djokovic has been out of action for months and this defeat marks one year since the Serb appeared in a Grand Slam final.
