Francis-Xavier Sosu, MP, Madina

The Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency, Francis-Xavier Sosu has defended Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi after the latter has been criticised for his dollar gift to controversial Evangelist, Agradaa.

The viral video which showed Sammy Gyamfi handing dollar notes to Agradaa in full glare of the public has led to many demanding sanctions against the public official for his conduct.

Although, Sammy Gyamfi has publicly apologised for his action, describing it as a “private act of kindness” which he “never imagined that same could find its way into the public space.”

However, Francis-Xavier Sosu in a tweet on May 12, 2025 said the GoldBod CEO committed no crime, taking a swipe at the critics of Sammy Gyamfi’s act.

“It is well. You committed no crime. The haters are hurt. They can’t believe that God can lift and bless you such that you can become a blessing unto others. Leave them – let them do their worst. We got you. God has your back. Stay focused and blessed,” Mr Sosu wrote.

But Executive Director, Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Mary Addah has said only persons clouded in political lenses will see nothing wrong with the conduct by Sammy Gyamfi.

Speaking on TV3’s News Central on May 12, 2025, Mary Addah urged the President to take the matter seriously because it clearly violates the code of conduct for public officers.

“Anybody who believes that the GoldBod CEO did nothing wrong means they are talking from a politically coloured lens and even that does not hold.

“This is clearly violating the code that they have set for themselves and whoever wants answers to that should begin to act,” she said.

Sammy Gyamfi was summoned by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah on Monday, May 12, 2025.

According to 3news sources, Gyamfi left the Presidency around 11:00 a.m., appearing remorseful and pensive, following the closed-door meeting.
