Zelenskyy reaffirms Ukraine’s commitment to peace, calls for swift negotiations

Zelensky and Trump in a heated debate.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reiterated his country’s commitment to peace in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), expressing readiness to engage in immediate negotiations to end the ongoing conflict with Russia.

I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace. None of us wants an endless war,” Zelenskyy stated, emphasizing that no one desires peace more than the Ukrainians. He confirmed Ukraine’s willingness to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible to pursue a lasting resolution.

Zelenskyy also highlighted the importance of U.S. support and expressed readiness to work closely with Washington. “My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts,” he wrote, signaling hopes for a reinforced partnership to secure a sustainable peace agreement.

Outlining potential steps to de-escalate the conflict, Zelenskyy proposed the immediate release of prisoners and a truce in both the air and sea domains. This would include a ban on missiles, long-range drones, and bombings targeting energy and civilian infrastructure — contingent upon reciprocal actions from Russia. “We are ready to work fast to end the war,” the President declared, urging Moscow to respond in kind.

Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude for U.S. military assistance, particularly the supply of Javelin missiles, which he described as a pivotal moment in Ukraine’s defense efforts. “We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence,” he noted, recalling the impact of U.S. support.

Addressing a recent meeting at the White House, Zelenskyy admitted it did not proceed as expected. “It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right,” he remarked, expressing hope for more constructive dialogue and cooperation with the U.S. moving forward.

In addition to peace talks, Zelenskyy confirmed Ukraine’s readiness to proceed with an agreement on minerals and security. “Ukraine is ready to sign it at any time and in any convenient format,” he stated, describing the deal as a vital step toward enhanced security and reliable guarantees for Ukraine.

As the conflict persists, Zelenskyy’s message underscores a clear intent: to achieve a swift, fair, and lasting peace through dialogue and strengthened international partnerships.
