World Vision Ghana and partner to provide clean water to underserved communities

World Vision Ghana (WVG) and Polytank Ghana Limited have entered a year-long partnership to improve access to clean and safe water for underserved communities in Ghana.

The agreement, signed during a ceremony on Tuesday, aims to address water scarcity and quality issues in rural, peri-urban, and vulnerable urban areas through sustainable interventions.

The initiative will deliver approximately 45,000 litres of water to selected communities in the Ahafo, Volta, and Oti regions, including Asunafo and Goaso (Ahafo), Aveyime (Volta), and Nkwanta, Kenyase, Krachi, Nchumuru, and Kadyebi (Oti).

The partnership is designed to promote public health, environmental sustainability, and community resilience by providing durable water storage tanks and mechanized boreholes to ensure uninterrupted access to potable water.

Mr. Jean-Claude Mukadi, Country Director of World Vision Ghana, described the collaboration as a significant step toward improving the health and well-being of vulnerable populations across Ghana.

Girender Mohinani, representing Polytank Ghana and the Mohinani Group, emphasized the partnership’s alignment with their mission to support Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6)—ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all.

“Water is life, but at Polytank Ghana, we say clean water is life. This partnership reflects our higher responsibility to save lives by ensuring access to clean, safe water through durable storage systems,” said Mr. Mohinani.

Polytank Ghana, a leading manufacturer of water storage systems, has a proven track record of delivering sustainable water solutions to schools, hospitals, farms, and other institutions. The company aims to tackle growing concerns about water turbidity and contamination, particularly in rural areas.

“This partnership comes at a time when stakeholders are alarmed about high turbidity levels and the presence of metals in some water sources. Together with World Vision’s technical expertise, we are confident in achieving impactful results,” Mr. Mohinani added.

Mr. Mohinani urged Ghanaians to adopt environmentally friendly practices to safeguard the country’s water bodies. “We cannot assume the role of government, but Polytank remains committed to advocating for accessible, clean, and safe water for all,” he noted.

World Vision Ghana, renowned for its commitment to clean water initiatives, expressed optimism about the collaboration. The organization believes this partnership will significantly advance efforts to provide safe water to Ghana’s most vulnerable communities.

The agreement marks the beginning of a broader commitment to addressing Ghana’s water challenges and ensuring long-term solutions.
