The Deputy Secretary-General of Trades Union Congress (TUC), Joshua Ansah says his outfit didn’t go ‘hard’ on President Akufo-Addo during the May Day celebrations.

On 3FM’s Sunrise, Mr. Ansah was quizzed by show host Johnnie Hughes on why he and his team were so ascetic on President Akufo-Addo .

His response was “I don’t think we were hard on the President if I got the question correct. We were only expressing our concerns. From the experience we have gathered, we think it better to tell the President in the face for him to come straight with us.”

Sharing his opinion on President’s Akufo-Addo’s promise to protect income of pensioners and workers he said “I think the President has realized that any attempt to go contrary to the M.O.U that has been signed between us and government will not be taken lightly by workers of this very country.”

Moving further he said “I think he was smart yesterday to say that he is reassuring our pensioners will be exempted, has been exempted and will continue to be exempted. It was a smart way of responding that question because he has seen what is likely to happen when any person attempts to go through the back door.”

Mr. Ansah gave an assurance the TUC will make sure Ghanaian workers and pensioners have their income will be protected.
