District Chief Executive nominees for the Agotime-Ziope and Adaklu Districts have been confirmed.
Alfred Klu Odikro, who was nominated for the Agotime-Ziope District received all 22 votes cast on Wednesday, representing 100 percent endorsement to be sworn in as the new District Chief Executive for the area.
Mr Odikro until his appointment was the NDC Chairman for the Agotime-Ziope Constituency, having previously served in various capacities including being the party’s secretary between 2001-2018.
Mr Odikro who is an entrepreneur with rich managerial experience, holds an RSA Stage III certificate in accounting from the then Takoradi Business College.
In his inaugural speech, he promised to work with all stakeholders to address the development needs of the area in line with the aspirations of the people of the Agotime-Ziope District and also in line with the Mahama government’s vision and reset agenda.
His confirmation was immediately followed with that of Jerry Yao Ameko, DCE nominee for Adaklu, who also polled all 19 votes in his favour to be confirmed DCE for Adaklu.
Jerry Ameko’s outright endorsement marks a turn in the political history of Adaklu, given the fact that no nominee has since the creation of the District in 2012 secured confirmation at a first attempt.
He holds a Master of Arts in Leadership & Development from the University of Development Studies, Tamale. Mr Ameko is a professional teacher with decades of teaching service.
He has been on the political scene for many years, serving as an Assembly member, NDC Branch Communications Officer and a Constituency Chairman -a position he held until his nomination.
Speaking to the media after his swearing-in on Wednesday, Mr Ameko, now the DCE for Adaklu underscored the importance of working together to uplift the economic and social conditions in the Adaklu District.
He reiterated his commitment to working with the Member of Parliament for the area, Kwame Governs Agbodza to address key development issues in the areas of health, education and social infrastructure.
The unanimous endorsement of the two nominees follows the earlier confirmation of Bless Kodjo Katamani as DCE for the Akatsi North District.
He all polled all 18 votes representing 100 percent approval from the Assembly members.
