The Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu has announced that from next week Wednesday, March 26, all persons in the region can go to their various National Identification Authority (NIA) district offices to collect their Ghana Card.
On Thursday, March 20, Mr Gunu announced that he had the privilege of receiving 33,707 Ghana Card backlogs meant for 18 districts in the Region, along with 19,500 blank cards to facilitate new registrations.
This was presented by a team from the National Identification Authority (NIA), led by Mr. William A.E. Darlas, Acting Head of Corporate Affairs.
For a long time, he said, the people in the region have faced challenges in accessing their Ghana Cards.
But this development is a major step in resolving those concerns, he said.
“I am committed to ensuring a smooth distribution process. I personally handed over these cards to the Regional Director for onward distribution to the Districts.
“Additionally,I mobilized volunteers to assist the NIA with registrations and made my personal pickup available to support the transportation of these cards,” he wrote on uis Facebook page.
To ensure that everyone is informed, he added “I have engaged the Information Services Department (ISD) to help spread the word. From next week, Wednesday, 26th March 2025, individuals can visit their respective NIA District Offices to collect their Ghana Cards.
“This is all part of the resetting agenda, making sure systems work efficiently for the benefit of our people. Let’s keep moving forward together!”
