Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kamal Deen, claims the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Ayensu Opare Addo, declined an invitation by his superiors who subsequently sent national security operatives to invite him over.
In what seems like a revelation, the NPP communicator told Johnnie Hughes on TV3’ New Day Tuesday that the reported forceful removal of DCOP Addo by men alleged to be members of the Delta Forces has been twisted.
DCOP Addo was reportedly forced out of office last week by men believed to be members of a pro-NPP vigilante group Delta Forces. According to him, he was humiliated and handcuffed.
But Kamal Deen said the narrative does not represent the true picture.
“In fact, the information that is out there indicates that he has been invited by his authorities, then he refused to respond to such calls by the National Security set up, then of course, officially National Security sent people to inform him that, look you need to come to Accra. It is when the officers visited him, then he placed a call to the Police Command that he had been besieged by so called hoodlums, which in fact is not true”, he explained.
