The Asawase Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Isaac Brenya, was not among the suspects who were brought to the Asokwa District Magistrate Court for the murder trial.
The suspended chairman was arrested on Monday, November 9 together with six other suspects over the murder of Sadiq Abubakar last Friday.
But Mr Brenya was absent though our correspondent reports he is still in police custody.
TV3’s William Evans Nkum said dozens of people have thronged the court premises to witness proceedings.
Meanwhile, the police is still hunting for Mohammed Dunia, who is said to have stabbed Sadiq to death.
They are calling on the public, according to our correspondent, to volunteer information that could lead to his arrest of the killer.
