President Joe Biden has announced the formation of a presidential delegation to attend the inauguration of Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, on January 7, 2025, in Accra.

The delegation will be led by Shalanda D. Young, Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget.

The team includes Virginia E. Palmer, U.S. Ambassador to Ghana; Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles; and Frances Z. Brown, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for African Affairs at the White House National Security Council.

John Dramani Mahama, who won the December 7 election against incumbent Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, will be sworn in for a new term, having previously served as president from 2012 to 2017.
