Two pupils dead, over 15 injured in Aseseeso bus crash

Two pupils from Ben Kunadu SDA Basic School in Asante Akyem are feared dead after their bus crashed on the Aseseeso stretch between Adukrom and Somanya.

More than 15 others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, Koforidua Government Hospital, and Somanya District Hospital.

The bus, registered as GV 83-22, was carrying 62 children on an excursion to Akosombo when the driver reportedly lost control while descending a hill. The vehicle somersaulted before landing on its side.

Onua News correspondent David Nenebi Aryeetey reports that Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey, who was passing by at the time, stopped to assist in rescue efforts, helping transport some of the injured students to Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital.

Emergency responders, including the Police, Fire Service, and Ambulance teams, quickly arrived at the scene to help extricate trapped victims and provide medical assistance.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, while families and school officials anxiously await further updates on the condition of the injured students.
