The October 19 arrest also uncovered ten cartons of compressed dried cannabis wrapped in Fante kenkey.
The two are 47-year-old travel and tour agent Kwaku Boateng and Yaw Opoku, 62, a driver.
The two arrested with the consignment
Their arrest followed a tip-off that someone had stuffed a Hyundai mini bus registered GB 5409-12 with cartons of compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and meant for the United Kingdom.
The police said a team of detectives from the Regional Command was immediately deployed to the Kotoka International Airport to lay surveillance.
At about 10:30pm, the team spotted the Hyundai mini bus driven by suspect Yaw Opoku heading towards the Aviance Cargo section of the Airport.
The team acted swiftly and intercepted the vehicle.
During a search, ten cartons of compressed dried leaves neatly packaged and concealed in dried plantain leaves looking like the popular Fante kenkey and wrapped in transparent rubber bags were found.

Upon interrogation, Yaw Opoku, mentioned suspect Kwaku Boateng as the owner of the consignment.
He insisted that Kwaku Boateng hired him to convey the consignment to the cargo section of the Airport to be exported to the UK.
Further police investigation led to the arrest of suspect Kwaku Boateng at Sonnidom Filling Station in Achimota, a suburb of Accra.
Suspect Kwaku Boateng reportedly admitted being the exporter of the goods on behalf of one Frank Akowah, who is on the police’s hunt list.
One more suspect is on the police search list
An unregistered Hyundai Sonata car being used by suspect Kwaku Boateng was also intercepted by the police during his arrest for further investigations.
