To whom much is given, much is expected – ACEP Boss tells Mahama appointees

Executive Director of the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP), Benjamin Boakye has told the appointees of President John Dramani Mahama that much is expected of them while they take office.

Mr Boakye indicated that while Ghanaians are expected to support the appointees, it is equally important to keep an eye on what they do in office.

Reacting to a post on his X page regarding the vetting of Dr Cassiel Ato Forson (Finance Minister-designate) John Jinapor (Energy Minister-Designate) and Dr Dominic Ayine (Attorney-General nominee), he said “Congratulations,  To whom much is given, much is expected— the destiny of Ghana is entrusted into the hands of these 3. All have to help but we have to also monitor what they do in the office… very important. 1. Fiscal recklessness 2. Dreaded energy sector financial crisis 3. The promised ORAL”

These three appointees have already been vetted by the appointment committee of Parliament, pending their approval by the house and the subsequent not swearing-in by the president.

Today, Monday Janury 20, Mr Governs Kwame Agbodza and Haruna Iddrisu will appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee.

This vetting session marks a pivotal moment in assessing their suitability for critical ministerial roles.

Mr Agbodza, nominated as Minister for Roads and Highways, and Mr Iddrisu, the Education Minister-designate, are expected to outline their qualifications, strategic vision, and actionable plans for their respective portfolios.

Their appearance follows an official announcement by Parliament on its Facebook page on Sunday, 19 January 2025.
