The propaganda that my Airport Hills residence belongs to my sister has been exposed – Ablakwa

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has strongly dismissed allegations regarding his ownership of a property in Airport Hills, calling the claims a deliberate smear campaign aimed at discrediting him.

Speaking on KeyPoints on February 8, Ablakwa presented official documents, including Tenancy Agreement signed in 2017 and 2022, as well as a letter to prove that he neither owns the property nor has any hidden interest in it.

Ablakwa explained that Airport Hills is an owner-occupied community with limited rentals, which require the approval of Finale Limited, the estate’s management company.

Contrary to claims that he or his family own the property, he clarified that the house in question belongs to a Jordanian national and covers just one plot of land.

“The propaganda that I own it has been exposed. The propaganda that it belongs to my sister has been exposed,” he stated emphatically.

He also dismissed assertions that Airport Hills does not allow rentals, stressing that records clearly indicate otherwise.

Ablakwa believes the allegations are politically motivated, tied to his stance on corruption and his role in uncovering financial irregularities in government projects.

“It’s all because of ORAL—they don’t want me questioning why we are buying land for GHC 42,000, why we are purchasing hotels, or why the National Cathedral is costing $58 million. Since I am exposing corruption, they feel the need to tarnish my reputation,” he asserted.

The minister further defended his track record, emphasizing that he has served Ghana in various capacities, including as: Deputy Minister for Information, Deputy Minister for Education and Member of Parliament.

He stated that throughout his years in public service, no Auditor General’s report has ever cited him for financial misconduct.

“At no time has any adverse finding been made against me. There is no report showing that I have diverted funds or taken anyone’s money. I have always served with utmost integrity,” he affirmed.

Ablakwa reassured Ghanaians of his commitment to transparency and accountability, particularly in serving the youth of the country, and vowed to continue exposing corruption despite attempts to undermine his credibility.
