Tamale: Religious leader allegedly murders children, chop their bodies into pieces

Two children both aged three, have been murdered in a suspected ritual killing at Kakpayili, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region.

Their decomposed bodies chopped into pieces were abandoned in a vehicle behind one Mallam Madaha’s house.

Background

Two children from the Kakpayili community reportedly went missing on June 22, 2024.

A search was conducted for the boys, but after two days of not finding them, an official complaint was made to police on June 25, 2024.

The name of Mallam Mahada was mentioned as a suspect and he was invited to the Kakpayili Chief’s palace.

He denied knowledge of the issue, but the youth insisted on his culpability and invited the police, and a search was conducted at his residence.  Two bodies were found in an abandoned car parked behind his house.

The discovery of the bodies heightened the residents’ anger, leading to the burning and vandalising of Mallam Madaha’s house.

Mallam Madaha and his wife have since been in police custody.
