Skills development and vocational training will be top priority if Bawumia becomes President – NAPO

Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has reiterated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision for skills development and vocational training, which will be a top priority when he becomes President.

He said, Dr Bawumia’s vision is to empower individuals with practical skills that foster economic growth and personal advancement.

Speaking at the Graduation Ceremony of the Ashanti Regional Chapter of United Hairdressers and Beauticians Association in Kumasi, he stressed that skills training will empower Ghanaian youth to start their own businesses, create jobs and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, when he engaged with the graduands of the United Hairdressers and Beauticians Association donated start-up kits to support the graduands as they begin this new chapter in their lives.

He observed their dedication to perfecting their craft and contributing to Ghana’s thriving beauty and personal care industry. During his address, he reiterated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision for skills development.

“NPP believes in skills development and the party will continue to prioritize Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) when Dr. Bawumia, God willing, becomes president on January 7, 2025.

Skills development can help reduce unemployment as more people will become gainfully employed, financially sound, and well-positioned to fend for themselves and contribute to the development of our economy,” NAPO stated.

He congratulated them warmly on this remarkable and life-changing achievement, urging them to remain determined and focused on their goals.

The Director General of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), Ghana, Dr Fred Kyei Asamoah, commended government’s substantial investment in the TVET sector, revealing that GHC1.2 billion has been injected into its development. He outlined key policy reforms spearheaded by the government for the introduction of Free TVET.

Dr Asamoah said that Free TVET has removed financial barriers and made technical education accessible and affordable, making it a first-choice option for young people looking to gain relevant skills for the modern job market.

Nana Temah, Deputy Chief Executive for the Petroleum Hub presented the items to the graduands.
