The Ghana Police Service says 46 police personnel interdicted in South Sudan for allegedly engaging in transactional sex are back at their post in Ghana. This was contained in a statement by the police administration confirming the repatriation of the 46 Formed Police Unit, on peacekeeping operations in Bentiu, South Sudan to Ghana. The statement signed on behalf of the Director General of Police-Public Affairs Directorate, ACP David Senanu Eklu, indicated the contingent arrived on Wednesday May 30. The 46 personnel were repatriated on administrative grounds because their behaviour in February breached the UN and UNMISS Code of Conduct that prohibits sexual relationships with vulnerable individuals. The police administration explained in its statement that the affected personnel will resume normal policing operations in Ghana as they await the full investigative report from the United Nations for further action.
