Security heightened in Chereponi, Saboba as 16 arrested so far

The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has reviewed the security measures in Chereponi and Saboba districts following renewed clashes that have so far claimed one life. Frantic investigations have begun into the clashes and already five persons picked up on Tuesday will be processed for court on Thursday, May 23. A ban has been placed on motorbikes for all with the exception of health workers, teachers, public servants and women. “Health workers, teachers and public servants must carry identification cards to enable them have that privilege,” a statement issued by REGSEC on Wednesday indicated. Even with that, they cannot ride beyond 6:00pm, the time an imposed curfew starts. In Chereponi in the North East Region, the District Coordinating Director, Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini, was attacked and his vehicle burnt down. “This is certainly an attack on an innocent public servant who is only in the area to perform his official duty.” The latest clash between the Anufors and Konkombas broke out on Sunday after a group went to set ablaze property in Kolli, a village belonging to Chokosis. REGSEC assures that adequate security has been put in place to enable all peace-loving residents go about their activities any fear or hindrances. “Any form of threat from any quarters must be reported to the security agencies deployed in the area, immediately.” Source: editors.3news.com|Ghana
